Properties:
White or colourless crystals. It is soluble in water easily. PH of 1% solution is 4.5. The density is 2.338, and melting point is 252.6°C.
Applications:
Agricultural - It is extensively used in horticulture and floriculture. It is highly instrumental in preventing fungal growth in crop plants, hence provides resistance to plants against fungal diseases.
Industrial - It is often used as a nutrient source in the greenhouse trade and in hydroponics.
It is one of the components of Gatorade (used as both an emulsifier and pH buffer) and is used as an additive in cigarettes.
Also used as a flavouring agent, brewing yeast culture agent and is used in medicine and manufacturing of potassium meta-phosphate.
